Women's Work is a collaboration between Jen Torres, Professor of Sculpture, and School Director/Dance Professor Meg Brooker. This work translates the physical labor of their artistic practices, sculpture and dance, into an interactive, interdisciplinary performance piece. The artists aim to highlight the physical demands of their practices through the theme of "women's work," historically stereotyped as undervalued domestic labor. The artists explore the sculptural forms of their own moving bodies through space, as well as how their movement can shape metallic elements to create living, mobile sculpture. Professors Torres and Brooker are both award-winning artists in their respective fields with works produced by or commissioned for a range of institutions including the Mississippi Museum of Art and the Hunter Museum of American Art, among others.
